Hi, I think this app is great. I have a possible use that requires scanning Code 39 barcodes for an industrial application. Can you support Code 39 or other codes that we can use to retrieve items from our local database. Thanks
Me Too. We need to be able to scan Code 39 to jump in with your very awesome product. Please advise....
We're definitely considering code 39 and code 128. stay tuned for announcements.
Any update on Code 39? Thanks....
No update yet! Will post if there is one.
I, too, would really like the ability to decode code 39, code 128, and interleaved 2 of 5. I will check out your SDK to see if we can pull from our own database.
is a list of supported formats available?
Supported formats are currently: -EAN-13 -UPC-A -EAN-8 -UPC-E
Code 39, 128 would be fantastic. I currently take a picture, and key in the values later. Aside from that, great app!
Are there any thoughts into doing 2d barcodes? I would like to be able to use the SDK to read a 2d barcode and have my app be able to store it along with other information - location, notes, etc.
Please, please, please add support for code 128 and 2d barcodes!
Hi. I too am working towards the development of an enterprise application that requires the reading of Code 39 and EAN 128 barcode symbologies and sincerely hope the decision to implement these goes ahead. Will watch this space (rather closely).
Brillian app. Congratulations.
Red Laser is an awesome app! I'm all for Code 128 and Code 39 support being added. Also, having the capability to enable or disable product look up would be very useful. I want to use the app to verify the barcode against the human readable text (errors happen, believe me) so the ability to see the actual decoded result without a product look up would be great.
Thanks for a great product! It's one of the very best iPhone apps.
has any progress been made in supporting other barcode formats? I'm particularly interested in Interleaved 2 of 5 and am pretty desperate to find a reader.
I would love code 39, preferably before the New Year stock take!!!!
Preferences for more formats noted! Thanks everyone. If anyone has a huge opportunity for a RedLaser-powered Code39/128 reader, please let us know.
Support for scanning vehicle identification number barcodes (e.g. VINs) would be big. There are a couple of players emerging in this space that are starting to do this (AutoNiq to name one).
I work for a large drug wholesaler and have my app working with your current solution. However, without code 39 and code 128 my app is worthless and cannot be used in production. I have to be able to provide code 39/128 box scanning for our customers upon receipt of product. Also, all the pharmacies we service (hundreds of hospital and independents) also label their inventories (stuff on the shelves) with code 39 or 128. So any type of physical inventory app I'd create will need that as well. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PROVIDE CODE 39/128 SCANNING! Huge opportunity just waiting for it!
Code 39. 128. I wanted redlaser to scan when handing out books for my classes. I was hoping to scan, type in student name & ID, then have a database where I could sort them later. This would be HUGE for us. Right now, we hand sort thousands of books to get them in order. Insane. Thanks for the product. Worked out of the box on my 3G iPhone.
Thanks for the requests for formats, keep em coming. We need to add more team members =)!.
Hello, for a professional application, I would love to see (in order of importance) :
EAN 128 Code 128 Code 39 Industrial 2 of 5 Interleaved 2 of 5
Please consider.
Regards
I know I want to be able to scan my own, and other peoples "printed" lables, so
1) I'd suggest that you consider, perhaps as an optional added cost, option for scanning what ever codes most people want. (and giving us some picture of the look of the various codes) I don't know if I want "EAN 128 Code 128 Code 39 Industrial 2 of 5 Interleaved 2 of 5 or UPC or EAN8 or what ever else is available) but I'd like to point Redlaser at a label, then if it sees two codes possible, at the point choose which I am scanning, with a "default" button so that if this often happens I can change the default.
2) I'd suggest moving the settings into the application. I don't know why some are in the settings area, but often find that I want to change the settings when I am in the application. Note: I suspect that the one I will want to change most frequently are the codes, if there is a reason not to interpret all the codes.
Just want to give another FULL ACK to bring uns Code39 Detection as an SDK-functionality. There are so many things you could imagine with just this class of code which is widely used in the industry.
Code39 My vote: +1

It's been several months; any word on Code128 support? I guess it'd be too much to hope for a solution in the next week... otherwise I'll have to figure something else out. :-(
Code 128 and Code 39 is a must if you want to distribute your SDK to more developers. 2D barcodes are important too and will be more in the future, so you need to support that also. OR you could make an interface so that the developer can extend the capabilities of the lib by adding support for these codes. Calling a delegate with the detected raw data would be a great help. So that the actual verification could be done in the delegate. Would be very flexible. It's urgent. So please do something! You would be THE standard for scanning on the iPhone.

Code 39 and 93 support are crucial! Please implement and we'll immediately incorporate your sdk.
You have a golden opportunity to blaze the trail, and get embedded into all bar-code based applications... But without the code 39/128... and some of the more popular 2D codes... there is little value beyond the "geez this is cool"
I have a strong desire and need to add iPhone support to one of my customer warehouse management software package. Presently we paly will all the majoe names int eh bar-coding industry... It wold be a slam dunk if we could get the need symbologies in the Red Laser SDK.
I wouldn't mind having all 1D and 2D symbologies to decode at least, not in the SDK so much for me, but in the main app, and have it just decode the symbols and output the data, say for Code 39 just decode the raw data of the symbology on the screen would be ideal for me.
PDF-417, Datamatrix, QR, Aztec would be a huge, huge plus.
As for live data pulls, ISBN would be fantastic!
And as a bug, I discovered I scanned a pack of cigarettes, it showed the UPC numbers, said no match, then it briefly said the brand name, then quickly as that showed up, it changed to some Disney novelties with the price. Thought that was bizarre. UPC for that: 012300327909
Any plans for ITF-14 barcode support? That would be great support for non-retail businesses such as ourselves.
In addition to those already mentioned we really need support for Datamatrix, Semacodes and SPARQCode. QR and Datamatrix are the ones we need soonest.
Hi,
Do we have any news on this?
Would be great to get an update.
Gabi.
Hi gabi_cavalier,
We are indeed working on support for 2D codes (as well as other 1D formats), and are planning a new SDK release next month with them included.
very exciting that you will release code 39/128 support next month, can't wait for it!
It looks like you're new here. If you want to take part in the discussions, click one of these buttons!
